Training for FAIS Representatives (RE5)

This course is designed to help prepare for the Regulatory Examination for Representatives (RE5) as required by the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act.  Please note that this training focuses on equipping you with the essential knowledge and skills to sit the RE5 exam. The course does not include the exam itself, but after completing the training, you will be well prepared to take the RE5 exam independently.

A FAIS representative plays a crucial role in the financial services sector by providing advice and intermediary services to clients. The Regulatory Examination (RE5) for representatives is designed to ensure that representatives have the necessary knowledge and understanding of the FAIS Act and its subordinate legislation, and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).

The RE5 training is essential for all FAIS representatives to ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of the financial services industry. By successfully completing this training and passing the RE5 exam, representatives demonstrate their competence and commitment to ethical and professional conduct. 

What will this course enable you to do?

After completing this course, you will have a holistic understanding of the regulatory framework governing FSP’s in South Africa which includes the following outcomes:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the FAIS Act as a regulatory framework 
  • Contribute towards maintaining an FSP license 
  • Define the role of the Key Individual in terms of the FAIS Act
  • Adhere to the specific Codes of Conduct
  • Comply with regulated record keeping requirements
  • Comply with the requirements of the FIC Act and Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing control regulations, as it applies to the FSP
  • Dealing with complaints that have been submitted to the Ombud for FSPs
  • Operate as a Representative in terms of the FAIS Act

Availability

Students can register online at any time.

Students will receive confirmation of registration and be allowed access to the learning material, once the required payment for the course has been made.

Certification

Students will receive a Certificate of Completion for the training once all the assessments have been successfully completed. A pass mark of 66% is required.
This certificate is not a RE5 certificate but a certificate for the completion of our training in preparation of sitting for the Representatives Examination.
*The Regulatory Exam 5 must still be written and passed to meet the Fit and Proper Requirements.
